NFL Playing With Idea For Three Day Draft

Anyone think the NFL Draft is two long for just two days?  Well the NFL itself might.  Confirmed reports say that the NFL is thinking about changing the layout of the 2010 NFL Draft to extend over three days, instead of the usual two.    The possible change would start the draft in prime time with round 1 begining Thursday night, rounds 2 and 3 on Friday and rounds 4 through 7 on Saturday.

The NFL feels it would be very appealing having the draft spread out, especially to the fans and audience of the event.  The decision to go to a three day draft would undoubtedly have mixed feelings amongst fans but would really help ratings.  The idea, and thats as far as it goes at this point, is still being discused and has no way been finalized but already has some support.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2010 Draft does go to the three day format.

Cardinals’ Rookie Rodgers-Cromartie Injures Ankle

Arizona Cardinals first-round draft pick, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, had to be carted off the field during Tuesday’s practice following an ankle injury.  He rolled his right ankle while participating in team drills.  He left the field and did not make it back for the rest of practice.

Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt gave little insight on the injury following that practice saying:

“We’ll know more tomorrow.  He tried to go but it’s a little sore so we’ll see tomorrow.”

Rodgers-Cromartie was drafted number 16th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft.  He has aspects to be a starter and will add an impressive and necessary element to the Cardinals defense.  In college Rodgers-Cromartie started all four years and was a two-tim all-American.  He also racked up 11 interceptions, four returned for TD’s.

Archuleta Signs With Raiders

Trying to bolster their defense, the Oakland Raiders have signed safety Adam Archuleta.  Archuleta was at the Raiders facility this morning but left with the trainer for his drug test.  He is expected practice with the team tonight.  The team has yet to announce how it will make room for Archuleta on their roster.

In Oakland, Archuleta would be competing for the backup spot for safety but if he plays the position from his alma mater Arizona State, which is linebacker, he could fight for the strong side linebacker job.

Archuleta was released from the Chicago Bears in May after an unimpressive season.  He had a broken hand early on last season only started 10 games.  Archuleta was a first-round draft pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2001 NFL Draft, and was known to be a hard hitter.  He then moved on to Washington, where many think his career started to go downhill.

He has started 86 games out of the 103 in which he has appeared.  He has 423 total solo tackles and has 4 interceptions.
