Bengals Sign FS Williams to Bolster Defense
The Cincinnati Bengals and former Dallas Cowboy Roy Williams, the free safety not the receiver, have agreed to terms to add to their rebuilding efforts. Williams was released following the 2008 season by the Cowboys and will now join up with a familiar face. Mike Zimmer, Cincinnati’s defensive coordinator, used to coach Williams while they were both in Dallas. During that time, Williams had some of the best numbers of his career.
The terms of the deal aren’t yet known. What is known is he will really add experience and talent to a struggling team looking for redemption.
Lions Trade WR Williams To Cowboys
The Cowboys tried to turn their fortunes around Tuesday by making a last minute trade before the 4pm deadline. Roy Williams, wide receiver for the Detroit Lions was traded to the Dallas Cowboys for first, third and sixth round draft picks in the 2009 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys would also get a seventh round pick from the Lions in 2009 included in the deal. This will help the Cowboys who have suffered setbacks recently with the injuries of Tony Romo, kicker Matt McBriar, and running back Felix Jones. Williams will add some explosiveness to the team and will give him a chance to shine.
